ABOUT CBEPC

Building science applied to real buildings.

We help projects perform better, last longer, and avoid costly failures.

Who We Are

Carolina Building Enclosure & Performance Consulting is a Charlotte-based building science firm dedicated to creating durable, efficient, and resilient buildings across the Carolinas.

We specialize in moisture management, high-performance design, and building enclosure diagnostics tailored to the unique challenges of our hot-humid climate.

Our work blends technical precision with practical, real-world solutions. Whether supporting architects, builders, developers, or homeowners, we help projects perform better, last longer, and avoid costly failures.

Our Mission

To elevate the built environment of the Carolinas by delivering science-driven guidance that improves durability, comfort, and energy performance — one project at a time.

Our Approach

Science First

Each recommendation is rooted in building physics, hygrothermal analysis, and climate‑specific best practices.

Collaboration Forward

Close collaboration with design and construction teams is maintained to reduce risk and streamline decision‑making.

Clarity & Communication

Technical findings are converted into clear, actionable guidance that is easily understood across the project team.

Local Expertise

Our solutions are informed by deep knowledge of Carolina weather patterns, regional construction practices, and applicable building codes.

What We Do

Why It Matters

In the Carolinas, heat, humidity, and rapid growth create unique challenges for buildings. Poor enclosure decisions can lead to mold, comfort issues, energy waste, and expensive failures.

We help project teams avoid those pitfalls by making informed, climate-appropriate choices from day one.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

CBEPC is led by Vincent Ellis, a Charlotte-based building scientist holding a Bachelor of Architectural Science, a Master of Building Science, and the PHIUS Certified Consultant (CPHC®) credential.

Vincent’s experience spans hygrothermal modeling, moisture management, and high‑performance enclosure design, using WUFI and THERM to assess vapor drive, condensation potential, and thermal bridging in building assemblies. His building‑science training includes extensive hands‑on instruction in blower‑door testing and enclosure diagnostics.

Let's build better, together.

Whether you're in design, under construction or facing performance issues, we're here to help.
